  1. Simply put, the greatest Smiths album. Locating Morrissey at the peak of his game, with his players surprisingly flexible, The Queen Is Dead did not disappoint when it was finally issued in summer.
  2. Editors’ Notes For their third studio album, The Smiths subtly expanded their sound for the epic structure of the title track. While still at their best as a singles act, the band could also pull off a cohesive, flowing album and The Queen is Dead remains the band’s most dramatic one, addressing Morrissey’s concerns with everything from stardom (“Frankly, Mr. Shankly”) to celibacy.
  3. Unlike its European counterpart, the Japanese cd has the barcode on the back of the obi instead of the back of the cd tray inlay. The obi is light blue-green and beige with a blue "Smiths Original Catalogue" crest common to all re-releases in the series.

  5. The DVD is kind of worthless to me. The CD's are held in miniature replicas of vinyl records and housed in a fairly sturdy cardboard box. The lyrics for the record are included. There are no essays discussing the record because it's really hard to find a rock critic willing to discuss the Smiths. This is a decent reissue if never a great one/5().
